Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the first woman MP of Telangana and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) from Nizamabad, celebrates her 41st birthday, on the 13th of March.

K. Kavitha is the daughter of the K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.

Kavitha was born in Karimnagar in 1978 and is the first woman MP of Telangana. She started her political career in 2004, when she played an active role in the Telangana Statehood movement.

Political Career

Kavitha started her political career in 2014, when she contested the general elections in the Nizamabad constituency and won with a margin of 1,70,000 votes.

She launched several welfare schemes and development projects for the citizens of Nizamabad and Telangana.

Kavitha is also part of the Estimates Committee, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and the Drinking Water and Sanitation Committee in the Parliament.

Telangana Jagruthi

K. Kavitha is also the founder of Telangana Jagruthi, a socio culture non government organisation (NGO.)

The Telangana Jagruthi stands as a strong organisation today, with a membership of approximately 2,30,000 members.

The main agenda of the organisation is to empower the women and youth of Telangana and provide them employment.

Kavitha also established the Telangana Jagruthi Skill Centres, where more than 8,000 students are being trained and assisted with gaining employment.

Achievements

K. Kavitha, a young political figure of the TRS, won the extraordinary Parliamentarian Award 2019.

Kavitha was selected for the prestigious award based on her performance and participation in debates and activities as a MP.

K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the TRS, and many other politicians and TRS members conveyed their birthday greetings to K. Kavitha.
